The Wonder Girls Club with Photographer Shravya Kag

Shravya Kag is an award winning photographer based out of Brooklyn, New York. In this Wonder Girls Club session, she engaged with the students in a candid chat filled with fun but profound advice!

Our 7 Key Takeaways:

  1. Read a lot of books. That’s a great place for inspiration!
  2. Look at the women around you: your mother, your aunts; amazing role models are everywhere!
  3. Always vocalize what you want. Don’t be afraid to ask for it and go after it!
  4. Don’t give up after your first failure. It won’t always be smooth sailing. Not everyone will like your work.
  5. It is important that you like what you do, a lot. And don’t be afraid to put your work out there. Reach out to everyone who you think will give valuable feedback.
  6. You can choose to do a Master’s in photography or learn skills online. But what’s important is that you do it everyday and that you work on it constantly.
  7. When it comes to choosing unconventional careers like photography, you need to show your work to your parents and convince them that you’re good at it. Parents tend to need a lot of reassurance.
Manasi Thacker

While Manasi was pursuing her Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Mumbai, she realized her true passion lies at the intersection of Developmental Psychology and Education, which led her to pursue a Bachelors of Arts in Education and Psychology as well. In her final year of University, she conducted and published a research report around the question: ‘How does space affect learning? What is the relationship between Curriculum and Space design?’. She wants to create environments and safe spaces which allow children to grow and thrive, which is what attracts her to Wonder Girls. At Wonder Girls, Manasi is responsible for scaling our flagship program.
